Disney's Soft Skinned Robotic Gripper

Disney Research's Pittsburgh lab recently published a paper describing a method for using multimaterial prints and air pressure sensors to operate a compliant gripper. What is especially clever about the design is how they used multiple materials to serve different functions in the integrated gripper design. The fingers of the gripper assemble in such a way that the soft material that prevents them from damaging objects also forms a gasket making them airtight volumes the attached pressure sensors can accurately gauge.
